You have some additional calculation options in pivot tables.
Follow along in the Pivot Table Calculation Options file.
Put your cursor on a cell in the pivot table and right click to pull up the menu below.
Select Field Settings. This will pull up the Pivot Table Fields dialog box.
Now click Options at the bottom right. Then click on the down arrow under Show data as:
Click OK and now we have a percentage distribution of our sales within each month.
It takes a little practice. Try out the other options. You will develop some favorites.
Pivot tables offer a variety of calculations besides straight sums, counts, etc. Use them to get quick insights on your mix and other factors.
