Excel 2002 offers another quick timesaver.
Click on the Tools menu, then select Options.
In the Options dialog box, go to the Edit tab.

Notice the option called Extend list formats and formulas. Check this to activate it. Here is what it does for you.
List formats. Suppose you are entering a list down a column such as a list of numbers. In older versions of Excel, your new item tot the list would not be formatted. With the new version of Excel, it will be. For this to work, you need to have this feature selected as we did above and have at least 5 items already in the list. Then when you enter a new item, it will automatically be formatted to match the items above in the list.
List formulas. Suppose your list had 3 columns. The first two were numbers. The third coiumn is a sum of the two numbers in the row. What Excel 2002 will do is automatically add in the formula when you add new items to the list, once the cells that dirve the formula have been entered. In this case, once you enter the two new numbers in a new row, Excel will add the formula automatically to that row.
