Floating Text in Charts

You can add floating text in the body of your charts.  Some people even prefer to use it instead of titles.  Why?  Because:

The exercise and result are in the Chart Floating Text file.

Here is the chart we finished with in the last lesson.

Now let's add a comment to the body.

Click on any open area (i.e. not a data point or bar) in the chart body and then go to the formula line and type in some text.

Then click the checkmark to enter the "formula".  You now see a text box entered in the plot area

You can then right click on the border of the text box and from the menu that appears, select format text box.

That gives you a number of choices to change the text box.  You can also then move or change the size of the text box by dragging or changing the border of the text box.

You could use this same process to set the chart title by using a text box like we did here.  To first set it up, you would set up a text box in the chart body and then drag it up to the title area (of course, you would cut out any current chart title first).

Use this process we mentioned to quickly add floating text to your charts or create titles with more flexibility than standard titles.
